Mets Silence Rockies in First Game of Double Header, 7-0 (7/30/09)

Today’s afternoon game, part of a day-night double header, was big. How big, you ask?

It's 5 in a row, big!

It's 5 wins in a row, big!

Santana was back to his old self, throwing 7 scoreless innings. The bullpen gave up no runs ( and yes, that was Tim Redding pitching!). And after a 5-run 2nd inning, the Mets weren’t done – they tacked on 2 more runs in the 5th and 7th.

The boys are doing something right, having managed to claw themselves within 5.5 games in the Wild Card race. Maybe it’s thanks to the fact that they’re still not shaving until they reach.500?

Leave it to men...only they can score when they don't shave!

Leave it to men...only they can score when they don't shave!

Ladies and gentlemen….Meet the Mets!! Let’s see what they’ve got in store for us tonight!

There is still hope

There is still hope
