Games 42: Pitcher & Position Player of The Game: Ike Obstructs Chance for W

Marcum for a loss, thanks to Ike:

Game 42:Shaun Marcum

Marcum’s line in the 4-3 loss to the Reds wasn’t particularly strong: 6IP, 4 ER  7 Ks. However, when you consider two of those runs came because Ike Davis stood around arguing at the ump at 1B, blocking a runner from 2b who probably would’ve been tagged out regardless…..it makes you re-evaluate. You can make the argument that without that one bone-headed mistake Marcum would’ve lasted into the 7th with less earned runs. We will never know.

Game 42: Marlon Byrd

Marlon Byrd was 1-3, with a Home Run and three RBIs, as well as that assist negated by Ike’s obstruction. He’s quietly having a very productive May and strong consideration may be made that he should be starting everyday. He starts more often than any outfielder but Duda, but perhaps that should increase further.
