Another Game, another quality Mets starting pitching performance wasted by the offense and bullpen.
Game 55: Jeremy Hefner
Hefner did everything possible to prove to Collins, Warthen, Sandy and Mets brain trust that he should stay in rotation when Wheeler arrives:
7 innings, 4 hits, 1ER, 1 BB, 7 strikeouts.
If it is of any help to the Mets brain trust, Hefner now has 7 Pitcher of the Game honors to Gee’s 4.
Game 55: Omar Quintanilla
The Mets bats were poor again, as the two runs they scored prior to Parnell’s blown save in the 9th of the 3-2 loss came via errors and lousy Nationals defense. Omar was one of the few exceptions, leading off and going 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Hmmm, maybe he should bat 5th.
