A look back at best performances from the Mets 5-1 win and 2-1 loss to St Louis on June 12-13
Game 60: Dillon Gee
Another solid star from Dillon Gee as he solidifies his case to remain in rotation while battling some elbow tendinitis. Over six innings of one run ball vs one of NL’s toughest lineups. The lone run came off a Yadier Molina home run, ensuring that despite the wins many fans will be having nasty flashbacks to 2006. Gee struck out 7 in the winning effort.
Game 61: Matt Harvey
Gotham’s Dark Knight suffered his first loss of the season in hard luck fashion: 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and seven strikeouts. It was the Mets offense, which didn’t score a run until the 9th, that ultimately did him in.
Game 60: David Wright
The Mets scored 5 runs in support of Gee via long balls from Wright, Byrd and Duda. Wright had the biggest day going 3-4 with a double in the first which led to a run and a solo home run in the sixth after the Cardinals cut the lead to 3-1.
Game 61: Marlon Byrd
There is no such thing as “too little too late” in a 2-1 loss. Byrd’s home run in the 9th gave the Mets a chance to tie on one swing. Unfortunately, they did not.
