Games 65: Pitcher & Position Player of The Game: Gee, What Heartbreak

Dillon Gee just wants that last pitch back…..

Game 65: Dillon Gee

On the eve of the Super Tuesday double header vs Atlanta, Dillon Gee did everything in his power to steal the thunder. It all came crashing down at 1:20 AM. After a rain delay caused the start to be pushed back to 10:50, Gee was masterful. Whether a combination of his pitches, the umpire expanding the strike zone to make the game go by faster, or the free-swinging Braves style and urgency, Gee kept the Braves off the scoreboard through 8 innings. His pitching count still low, he came out for the ninth and got one out, but a single by Justin Upton and a Home Run by Freddie Freeman on his 101st pitch ruined his night as the Mets lost 2-1.

Gee’s final line: 8.1, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, six strikeouts, one home run allowed. Oh and he was 1-3 with an RBI.

Game 65: John Buck

Buck deserves this spot for two reasons: He scored the lone on Dillon Gee’s RBI single, and he called a great game for Gee. I do not recall Gee shaking him off very much.
