Games 86: Pitcher & Position Player of The Game: Harvey Day Marathon

Mets fans look so forward to Harvey Day. Technically Mets game them two games worth in one.

Game 86: Matt Harvey

Mets won a 15 inning marathon, their second 15 inning game in 5 days…….in San Francisco………..after a cross country flight from Milwaukee…………with no off day………….I’m tired for them.

Matt Harvey was off for much of the night, struggling to put away hitters in front of All-Star Game Manager Bruce Bochy, who will decide if Harvey will start the game. To Harvey’s credit, he plodded through throwing 121 pitches in seven innings, allowing three runs a walk and striking out six.

Did I mention he pitched like that with a bruise finger? Cause he did all that with a bruised finger. This kid just keeps impressing.

Game 86: Eric Young Jr.

Young gets the nod cause he manufactured a run in the top of the 16th that proved to be the game winner. With one out Young Jr had a single, stole second, and then got to third on a Daniel Murphy ground out. After an intentional walk to Wright, Recker grounded to Giants Shortstop Brandan Crawford who errored, resulting in a run. Young’s speed got him in a position to capitalize on a Giant Giants mistake.
